Launching of Fokker 50 flights to Mulu

From 1st October onwards, Malaysia Airlines will operate scheduled direct flights from Kuching and Kota Kinabalu to Mulu using larger 50-seater Fokker 50 aircraft. Flight time from Kuching will be one hour thirty five minutes and one hour from Kota Kinabalu.

The Fokker 50 flights from Kuching will be on a daily basis, while the flights from Kota Kinabalu will be four times a week.

With the recent completion of the airport runway and new terminal building, and now these new Fokker 50 flights, travel to and from Mulu will now be much more convenient and reliable. Flight cancellations and delays due to bad weather, which was quite commonplace with the smaller Twin Otter aircraft, will be a thing of the past.

The larger capacity aircraft will also ensure a greater availability of seats, and with excellent domestic and international air links from both Kuching and Kota Kinabalu, both domestic and international arrivals to Mulu are set to rise considerably in the coming months.

The latest development will definitely be a boon to establishments in Mulu, most notably the Royal Mulu Resort and the Gunung Mulu National Park.
